"Elegance is not about drawing attention,
but about being remembered."
Sylvie Burstin began her career in the 1970s under the wing of Maison Nina Ricci of Paris. This was the only place outside of France where in addition to selling Haute Couture collections, they were also crafted, inside her first boutique on the prestigious Alvear Avenue in Buenos Aires.
In 2000, Sylvie Burstin presented her first collection under her own name, alongside Manfred Vogel, former designer for Nina Ricci Latin America. With this first runway show, she received recognition from the press, being awarded the “Silver Scissors” for Best Haute Couture Collection, a prize she would receive six more times in the following years, along with two “Golden Scissors” awards, the highest honor in the Argentine fashion industry.
Creating a haute couture piece involves complete styling. It’s about choosing everything from the shoe that peeks out from under the hem to the veil, the jewelry, and even the headpiece for the bride. The combination of various techniques, from precious metal welding to using materials as diverse as textiles and crystals, makes this luxury product as thoughtfully designed as a dress.
